On July 9 at the Farnborough International Airshow 2012 Alexey Fedorov, President of JSC IRKUT Corporation and Michael L. Kdobe, General Director of Denel Aviation signed a cooperation agreement in the field of aviation. The document provides the parties with joint activities in promoting in South African countries IRKUT’ products: commercial MC-21 aircraft and trainer aircraft; establishing MRO center on the basis of Denel Aviation and further development of industrial cooperation.


            The long-term agreement underlines the activity of interaction between the Russian Federation and the Republic of South Africa within BRICS organization.


IRKUT takes the leading position in the Russian aircraft manufacturing and has 15% share of the Russian arms export. The order book of IRKUT as in the beginning of June, 2012 makes about 7 billion US$.

Proceeds of JSC IRKUT Corporation in 2011 exceeded 1, 6 billion U.S. dollars (according to International Financial Reporting Standards). Over the past 10 years revenues of the Corporation grew by more than 3 times. Export of multi-role Su-30MK fighters is the basis of JSC IRKUT Corporation’s proceeds. In 2011 Yak-130 Combat trainers entered the list of exports as well.

Being the prime contractor IRKUT Corporation is working on the realization of main prospective project of Russian civil aviation – the creation of MC-21 short/mid range family of commercial airliners.


Denel Aviation is a part of Denel Group of companies – the biggest manufacturer of defence equipment in South Africa, which also deals with developments in the field of aerospace equipment.

Denel Aviation is a leading developer of aircraft components and assemblies in the South African region and a manufacturer of its own aircraft and parts. The company provides logistical support of aircraft in Africa as well. And has a long-term cooperation with global manufacturers: Eurocopter, Lockheed Martin, SAAB, Agusta Westland, BAe, Airbus.
